Whereas there is a mad race for patent filings across the world, I have seen very few patentees making commercial turnaround by generating revenues specifically from the patent rights in their products or processes. (Researchers on the other hand, seldom look beyond filing, as their resumes only need the numbers of filings, to stay ahead). When I say this, I exclude those engaged in licensing and sale/assignment of rights.
